If you know me at all, you know my love for sunrises and especially sunsets. The streaks of color, the wispy clouds, the way the sun hits each cloud is so captivating and amazing. One of my favorite things to do is to watch sunsets with my dad. There’s this little lake near my house and it is by far one of my favorite sunset spots.

Many people see sunsets and just go “wow, that’s so pretty,” and while yes they are breathtaking, I see a sunset as God’s love and intentionality. Little weird huh? No sunset is the same. Think about that. God is so powerful that the sky is different EVERY SINGLE DAY, and He uses that power to show us His love. He creates sunrises and sunsets for us to look at. He creates them because He can. He puts each star in its place intentionally. He places them there by hand.

With that, here’s a little story.

This past week, there was this breathtaking sunset. Gainesville has had some pretty great ones, but Tuesday’s caught me and I became in awe of it. My team and I went on a walk during our team time and had such a sweet time. While we were walking, we got to watch the sky change right in front of us. Ask my team, but I was captivated by the sky. I sat and just admired it. I couldn’t fathom the work the Father had just created. As I was walking with my TL, Leanna, I said “ the sky is so beautiful and I am just in awe of it, yet the Lord says I am His most beautiful creation. He sits in awe of ME. How wild is that??” That realization blew my mind and realizing that over the time I have been here has transformed me to know my beauty and my worth. While this is so sweet of the Father to give me this realization . That night I was laying in my sleeping bag and I remembered the conversation I had with Jesus on the way down to breakfast. I was just telling Him ‘good morning’ , and talking… in the middle of our conversation He said “I have something for you today.” I was like “what the heck does that mean?” Expecting it to be something from the sermon that day, something someone was gonna speak to me, or whatever but no. It was the sunset. I was laying in my sleeping bag and He said “ Gracie. That’s what I had for you. The sunset. I know how much you love them, so I made this one for you tonight.”

WHAT! No wonder I was so captivated and in awe of the sky Tuesday evening.

He knows the desires of my heart. He knows that I love sunsets. He knows how captivated I get from them, and He created one for me! That night, the Lord reminded me that nothing is too small or big for Him. He cares about the little things and the big things. He doesn’t always give us the desires of our hearts because He has something way better for us, but sometimes He does it without us even knowing.

Sometimes He gives us a painted sky to just show us that He hears us and our hearts.

Here are a couple pictures I captured that sweet night!
